Corn Price Update August 2011
Upper Midwest (Des Moines, IA)
7/27/11
For the following states: WI, MN, IA, SD, ND, NE, KS, MO
Over the last month organic grain and feedstuffs were trading mostly higher, with feed grade barley averaging lower this period. Grain trade was very light in July due in part to the unusual high temperatures for this time of year in the Upper Midwest. Extremely limited supplies of corn have hampered trade as well, while interest in smaller feed grade grains this period was less than the previous reporting period. Feed grade corn remains in good demand, with light demand reported for feed grade soybeans and barley.
All prices FOB price per bushel except where stated (trucking cost needs to be added)

Eastern Cornbelt (Springfield, IL)
7/27/11
For the following states: IL, IN, OH, MI, PA, NC, NY, VT
Light to moderate offerings were reported on all grains except for corn, of which offerings were very light. Trade in organic grain and feedstuffs prices were mixed, with feed grade corn and feed grade soybeans higher, while feed grade soft red winter wheat was lower. Offerings of grain this period were very light, with good demand for corn and light to moderate demand for all other grains.
Corn is reportedly in extremely short supply and the heat wave across the corn belt has minimized feed usage. Volumes of feed grade barley being traded are increasing in light of the current corn situation, with the wide range reported due in part to many cleaning out their bins.
All prices FOB price per bushel except where stated (trucking cost needs to be added). Monthly and quarterly prices are located below.
