Ryan and Annie Murray milk about 140 cows on their farm in Central, NY and sell organic milk. The farm has been in the Murray family for almost 100 years. Ryan and Annie began farming on their own in 2013 and have made many changes in their pursuit of increased efficiency, profitability, and quality of life.
In this webinar, Ryan and Annie will describe their operation and discuss some of the changes they’ve made to pursue an efficient organic dairy grazing operation. The changes include:
• 1x/day milking for several years and back to 2x/day
• Retrofit milking parlor into a tie-stall barn
• Spring calving to spring and fall calving
• Fully outwintering cows to building a free-stall barn
They will also describe their Combiwagon and shear grab that were purchased with a grant from the Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center as a way to increase the efficiency of outdoor feeding.
This webinar is hosted by Dr. Jon Winsten on Wednesday May 6th at 11am EDT. Join to understand the lessons learned on Murraydale Farm. Please feel free to share this with your networks.
