NODPA’s 8th Annual Field Days Event
& Annual Producer Meeting
Monday October 27th at 9:00 am to Tuesday October 28th at Noon

Plan to arrive Sunday late afternoon to discuss the issues of the day with NODPA Board members and State Reps.

Monday will feature:

• Clark Driftmier (formerly Aurora Organic Dairy) and others will be talking about marketing organic milk, especially the role that store brand will play,
• Arden Nelson, Organic dairy farmer and veterinarian in Colorado who sold most of his cows and converted to a CSA will be part of a farmer panel of organic dairy farmers from across the country.
• Field visit Klaas and Mary-Howell Martins Farm and their Lakeview operation to gain some valuable insight into different production methods, rotations and the future for organic grain and forage (well some ideas anyway!).
• Annual dinner and organic dairy producer meeting where NODPA members will be updated on the previous year’s work and set the priorities for the NODPA work in 2009 -2014.

Tuesday will have some practical workshops on extending the grazing year, alternatives to purchased grain, marketing your own milk and other topical issues.

NODPA’s Field Days are a great place to re-connect with friends and with what is going on in the organic dairy world.

As usual, we will have a trade show for 1 ½ days, with many opportunities for farmers to visit the trade show, network with one another, learn about trends in the industry, and meet resource people who will be on hand.
