East & Midwest Grain Prices as of May 7

Upper Midwest (Des Moines, IA) 5/7/08
Organic grain and feedstuff prices were nearly unchanged on light demand and light offerings, compared to two weeks ago.  Corn movement was moderate, while soybean movement was practically void.  Possible soybeans being imported from China but market feels there will be more soybean imports from South America in the near future.  Oat plantings in Iowa are 15 percent complete, compared to the 5 year average of 75 percent.  The Eastern Cornbelt was able to put some oats in last week.  New crop oat bids $6.50 to $7.00 per bushel.  Organic wheat midds trading from $275 per ton to $300 per ton.

All prices FOB price per bushel except where stated (trucking cost needs to be added)

Organic grain and feedstuff prices were steady to firm compared to two weeks ago.  Demand was light to moderate for light offerings.  Feed grade corn and soybeans were higher.  Wheat prices were not established.  Small grains were slightly higher. End users continue to have a difficult time in acquiring soybeans due to higher price levels. Reports of organic wheat midds ranging from 275.00 to 300.00 per ton. Organic Barley priced from 6.50 to 8.00 per bushel.

All prices FOB price per bushel except where stated (trucking cost needs to be added)
